Direct Speech - Indirect Speech Direct Speech માંથી Indirect Speech માં રૂપાંતર કરતી વખતે Reporting Speech માં આપેલ Reporting Verb ના કાળ પ્રમાણે Reported Speech માં કાળમાં ફેરફારો થાય છે. આ ફેરફારો નીચે પ્રમાણે છે.
જો Reporting Verb – વર્તમાનકાળ કે ભવિષ્યકાળ હોય તો Reported Speech ના કાળમાં ફેરફાર થશે નહીં.
Nayan says, “I will go there”.
→ Nayan says that he will go there.
→ જો Reporting Verb – ભૂતકાળમાં હોય તો Reported Speech ના આપેલ કાળમાં નીચે મુજબ ફેરફાર થશે. → Simple Present Tense (સાદો વર્તમાનકાળ)નું Simple Past Tense (સાદા ભૂતકાળ) માં રૂપાંતર થાય છે. Shilpa said, “I do not know him”.
→ Shilpa said that she did not know him.
→ Continuous Present Tense (ચાલુ વર્તમાનકાળ)નું Continuous Past Tense (ચાલુ ભૂતકાળ)માં રૂપાંતર થાય છે.
The boys said, “We are playing cricket”.
→ The boys said that they were playing cricket.
→ Perfect Present Tense (પૂર્ણ વર્તમાનકાળ)નું Perfect Past Tense (પૂર્ણ ભૂતકાળ)માં રૂપાંતર થાય છે.
Chirag said, “I have seen the Taj Mahel”.
→ Chirag said that he had seen the Taj Mahel.
→ Present Perfect Continuous Tense (ચાલુ પૂર્ણ વર્તમાનકાળ)નું Past Perfect Continuous Tense (ચાલુ પૂર્ણ ભૂતકાળ)માં રૂપાંતર થાય છે.
The teacher said, “I have been suffering from typhoid for two weeks”.
→ The teacher said that he had been suffering from typhoid for two weeks.
→ Simple past tense (સાદા ભૂતકાળ)નું Perfect Past Tense (પૂર્ણ ભૂતકાળ)માં રૂપાંતર થાય છે.
The old man said, “I lost my purse in the market”.
→ The old man said that he had lost his purse in the market.
→ જો સાદો વર્તમાનકાળ નજીકનો નક્કી કરેલ ભવિષ્યકાળ દર્શાવતો હોય તો – Would + મૂળરૂપનો ઉપાયોગ થાય છે.
Jayshree said, “My brother comes tomorrow”.
→ Jayshree said that her brother would come the following day.
→ જો ચાલુ વર્તમાનકાળ નજીકનો નક્કી કરેલ ભવિષ્યકાળ દર્શાવતો હોય તો – Would + be + ing નો ઉપાયોગ થાય છે.
Umesh said, “We are leaving for Vadodara next Sunday”.
→ Umesh said that they would be leaving for Vadodara following Sunday
→ જો Reporting Verb ભૂતકાળમાં હોય તો Reported Speechમાં આવેલ સહાયક ક્રિયાપદોમાં નીચે પ્રમાણે ફેરફાર થશે.
